Gnomies

They’re cute.

They’re fun.

Oh, gosh, they really are cute.

Pipe cleaners, embroidery floss, a little wooden bead head, and, oh, yes- wool felt. There are tutorials out there– but, I really loved the instructions in Felt Wee Folk: Enchanted Projects, by Sally Mavor. I picked my copy up at the library.

I paint heads in big batches. And there are several naked bodies waiting in my craft room. So, more on the way. 🙂

Hi, is the Sally Mavor book one that I can buy on a kindle, or are there templates I would need to copy from a book? Thanks for any help, my girls would love these little guys. I love the felt clothes.

  Hi! The book does have a lot of patterns for clothing, and a few other felt items (a little purse/wallet, a wall hanging?) that would be hard to do from a Kindle. FWIW, though- I found that the clothing patterns in the book are just a tiny bit too small. I’ve had the same problem with a few different ones- I think she just works with a really minute seam allowance, and I can’t manage! So, I lay the doll body down on a piece of paper, and just sort of trace around it, add ~.25-.5″ in seam allowance, and make my own clothing patterns- but, you could certainly just add a little seam allowance to the patterns in the book (and hey, maybe you won’t have the same problem :).
  
  I would probably go for the actual book, or at least check it out from the library first so you can see if the patterns work for you- and also, admire the photographs of her work. There are some really nice full page photos in there!

      Thanks- it took awhile, but, it was easy (and gave me an excuse to sit and watch part of a movie). Enjoy the little doll making- they are really addictive, once you get the wrapping technique down!
